Walks ProgrammeWe have an active walks programme. Usually there is a half day walk on Saturdays typically (4-7 miles), and generally two walks on a Sunday (8-12 miles). During the summer we have weekday evening walks (3-5 miles) as well. Who leads our walks? All walks are led by members of the Group. Anyone who is a member of the Group can volunteer lead a walk, but if you have not done it before, you are encouraged to either attend one of our informal training days before hand, or to ‘buddy’ up with a more experienced walk leader. What about breaks and food?Walk leaders will ensure there are an adequate number of water stops during their walk. Where lunch is to be had during the walk, the Walks Programme will indicate if you will need to bring a packed lunch with you, or whether there is the opportunity for a 'pub stop'. When there is a pub stop, you are of course still welcome to bring a packed lunch, as not everyone will eat at the pub.You will need to ensure you bring sufficient drinks with you, as you should not assume that there will be somewhere to buy any on the walk. What will I need to wear / bring? We have produced some guidelines on what to bring with you on a walk. Please click here for more information.Does it cost anything to go on a walk? There is no charge to attend any of our walks. You will, of course, need to feed yourself, and to get there and back. Please note that sometimes we do 'linear walks' where we walk one way, and catch public transport back.Membership of the Group is through membership of the Ramblers Association, which we would ask you to join if, after three months, you wish to walk with the Group on a regular basis. Weekends AwayIn addition to our regular Walks Programme, we also organize weekends away throughout the year. These are spent walking in a different part of the country and enable us to experience different walking experiences to those normally found in the Chilterns. For example we have in the past visited Pembrokeshire, the North Norfolk coast, the Peak District and the Lake District. Last year, several members of the Group walked the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall. Some weekends run from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. Some are longer.Use of the Chilterns 20/30s web site is subject to Chilterns 20/30s Terms of Use Chilterns 20/30s site - Data Protection Statement. © Chiltern 20s 30s Walking Group, © pfp Solutions Ltd Web Design.
