Our Walks

UPDATE: Snowy Weather affecting walks on Sunday 5th February 2012

Due to the current snowy weather, some walks may be cancelled. Please contact the walk leader (as listed on the Walks Programme or weekly email) or check our Facebook page before leaving home. If you decide to join a walk, please ensure you are fully prepared with suitable clothing, hot drinks and that you are aware of icy and hazardous driving conditions especially on minor roads and country lanes.

Usually we have a half day walk on Saturdays between 4 and 7 miles, and generally a couple of walks on a Sunday. During the summer we have weekday evening walks. Join our email list to receive the full programme of future walks including contact details for the leaders.

Who leads our walks?

All walks are led by members of the Group. Anyone who is a member of the Group can volunteer lead a walk - if you have not done it before you could attend one of our informal training days or buddy up with a more experienced leader.

What about breaks and food?

You will of course need to bring food and water with you. Occasionally there are pub lunches - but most times people bring sandwiches. In the winter a flask is a good idea. As a guide you will need at least a litre of water in winter - and two litres in summer.

Does it cost anything to go on a walk?

There is no charge to attend any of our walks, if you’ve tried three walks and want to keep coming, you should join the group by becoming a member of the Ramblers.

Weekends Away

In addition to our local walks members also organize weekends away throughout the year. These are organised by members for members - and help deepen the bonds within the group. They can be anything from seaside trips to long distance trails - and alpine weekends.
