Leaving Berkamsted via Northchurch common, we join the Icknield Way though woods up to the monument at Ashridge. We’ll then join the Herfordshire way, stop for a picnic lunch in the Golden Valley, before resuming through Little Gaddesden and arable land towards Great Gaddesden where we will roam across open access land by the river Gade. Leaving the Gade valley behind we head up towards Frithsden and the last few miles back down into Berkhamsted.
Locating the walk - copy the grid reference SP988081 and then go to MultiMap, or The Ordnance Survey, and paste the reference into the search box. A map showing the start location will appear, which you can scroll in and out of. For TomTom etc, paste the reference into PostCode Finder and then click on [Lookup Nearest Postcode].
