NEWS - Eventful walk this Saturday!
A suspected hand grenade was found on the footpath near Ashridge. I contacted the police and they confirmed it was a World War II hand grenade. They X-rayed it and found the detonator was intact and subsequently carried out a controlled explosion! - ROCKSTAR on the Gatepost.

Who are we?
We are a group of more than 200 people in their 20s and 30s, based in the Chilterns area of Southern England, and organise half-day and full-day walks at weekends and full weekend trips, as well as regular social events. We are a friendly group and welcome all newcomers. We are part of the Ramblers Association, Britain’s oldest walking charity, which has been working for 70 years to promote walking and to improve conditions for everyone who walks in England, Scotland and Wales. more...

When and Where are the walks?
Walks take place on most weekends, and also on some weekday evenings during the summer. On Sundays, you will usually find two full day walks (8-12 miles), whilst on Saturdays there is normally a half day walk (4-7 miles). These are all led by members of the Group and take place throughout the Chiltern region, which covers Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire. Occasional walks will venture outside of these boundaries. All walks start from published starting points with adequate car parking. They involve walking mainly on country footpaths, at a moderate pace and with plenty of water breaks. more...

What socials do you offer?
Every month we have a pub night, when we meet in a pub for food and a few drinks. Members are also welcome to organise other events, which have recently included bowling, ice skating and museum visits, and of course the annual Christmas do. more...

How do I join?
Simply come and join us on any walk - Saturday walks are generally shorter and attended by smaller groups, so are an ideal introduction to what we do. If you already have some experience of going walking, feel free to join one of our Sunday walks. more...

If you wish to attend walks on a regular basis, you need to become a member of the Ramblers Association and state that you want to join our group.  more...

What is your age range?
Most of our members are between their mid-20s and early 40s.

We have established a new group for walkers in their 40s, the Chilterns Weekend Walkers. more...

Who runs the group?
The group is run by an elected committee composed of volunteers.
