Welcome to Chilterns 20s and 30s Walking Group

Dates for your diary

Wednesday 21st March: Deadline for Apr-June 2012 Walks Programme
Nikki Smith has created the new Spring programme covering April to July. 4 bank holidays and the start of our mid-week walks in May mean there are a total of 52 walks to fill. We rely on walk leaders volunteering and giving their time and effort to keep our group going, please give generously. To submit a walk, choose a suitable date, complete the spreadsheet sent by email, return it to Nikki.

Friday 1st to Tuesday 5th June: Keswick Weekend
The Keswick walking weekend with Dave Burnett is now *FULLY BOOKED*.

Who are we?

Want to get some exercise but hate the gym? Want to meet new people in real life not just online? We are the answer! We are a group of over 200 walkers in their 20s and 30s based in the Chilterns area of South England. We organise walks at weekends, weekend trips away and regular social events. We are an active and friendly group welcoming new members. Our group is part of and funded by the Ramblers, Britain's walking charity.

When and where do we walk?

We go walking on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year, and also on some weekday evenings during the summer. Our walks are all led by members of the Group and take place throughout the Chiltern region. This includes Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire, though we sometimes venture further afield. All walks start from published starting points, usually with car parking. Most walks are on country footpaths and we usually have plenty of breaks to admire the view - and take in the odd pub.

Our Current Walks - This only shows our upcoming walks, for the full list please see the Walks Programme which was sent to you via email.

What's the social life like?

Every month we have a pub night where we meet in a pub for a few drinks - and maybe some food. Members also organise other events, which have recently included bowling, ice skating, paintballing cinema, quiz & comedy nights. We also have an annual Summer BBQ and Christmas do, which are the social events of the year.

How do I join?

Simply come and join us on any walk - most of the half day walks are ideal for inexperienced walkers. Not sure ... then pop along to a social to meet people first. You can sign up to our email list for a few months before becoming a member to receive weekly updates on the walks and socials to help you decide which ones to try. Once you’ve tried three walks and want to keep coming, you should join the group.

How old are people in the group?

The age of people on walks varies from week to week. Most participants tend to be in their 20s or 30s, but we don't have strict age limits. A couple of years ago we founded a new group for people over 40, the Chiltern Weekend Walkers, which is now one of the fastest-growing Ramblers groups.
