What will I need to bring / wear on a walk?
Please note that what is suitable will vary depending on the length of the walk, the season, and the weather. For example, things you would take in the summer may not be suitable for walking on a cold and windy February day.
You will need a good pair of walking shoes, preferably walking shoes or boots (trainers are not suitable except for dry summer days, but ideally should be avoided altogether), waterproofs (it may rain even if the forecast says it won't) and sufficiently warm clothing for the time of year. In the winter, this should include a hat and gloves. You should also bring a rucksack large enough to carry all that you need.
You will also need sufficient liquid refreshment - hot summer, full day walks in particular. You should not assume that there will be anywhere to purchase a drink on the walk.
